Michel Meis, Global Project Grant laureate 2021, releases his music video Kaboom

Global Project Grant Laureate 2021 for jazz, Michel Meis 4tet published their music video Kaboom to keep promoting their eponymous album. In their desire to break away from the codes of traditional jazz and the beaten track, the band stays in this vain and offers ten minutes of offbeat staging around White, a massive, fluffy-furred fighting cat, suffering from PTSD and fighting to win the title that will allow him to earn his master’s affection. When he is faced with a major setback, he must confront his past and fight his inner demons.

Throwback to the shooting with some of Michel Meis’ impressions…

How was the atmosphere on the shooting?
It was a great shooting, we had lots of fun. But it was also exhausting, as the days were long. We are very grateful, though, to have had such a great and professional cast and crew, without whom it would not have been possible to do that project.

What did you want to tell about your music through this video?
We wanted to surprise the people, maybe even disturb them a bit. We wanted to show them that jazz doesn’t need to be all stiff and serious. It can be fun, unexpected and also bit trashy.
