As part of its mission to promote and disseminate the Luxembourg arts scene, Kultur | lx has joined forces with Rotondes and Spektrum to invite professionals from the international digital arts scene to discover the projects of Luxembourg artists who will be exhibiting at the next edition of Multiplica, which will be held from 24 February to 5 March at Rotondes.
On the programme: on the site of the Rotondes and elsewhere, the public of all ages will be able to discover international and local digital and multimedia art creations, workshops for children and adults, audio-visual performances, concerts and meetings with artists, including:

About Multiplica
The Multiplica festival is a cultural and artistic project initiated by the Rotondes which started in 2015 with a first conference entitled “What is digital art? Driven by the will of some members of the team to create a festival around digital and multimedia arts in Luxembourg, the project has grown through its biennial editions (2017, 2019, 2021) and has become an important meeting point for everyone who is interested in arts that use current technologies and in the many themes related to the digitalisation of our daily lives, such as the impact of technologies on our environment or digital exclusion.

Within the framework of Luxembourg, the country of honour of the CINEMANIA festival, Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg invites to discover other aspects of Luxembourg’s creation between music, performance, dance and literature. Beyond the highlight at the PHI centre on November 3, Kultur | lx is expanding its programming and allowing artists to present themselves at major platforms and festivals on the Montreal scene. The establishment of a new partnership with the Centre des auteurs dramatiques de Montréal opens a three-week residency to two authors.

Every two years since 1984, CINARS has organised one of the most important international meetings of the performing arts in Montreal with more than 1900 professionals from 54 countries, including 433 of the most important presenters in the world. Author in residence: Sophie Langevin and Ian De Toffoli
Founded in 1965 by six authors, the CEAD now has over 290 members. An association of authors serving authors, CEAD is a centre for the support, promotion and dissemination of French-language drama in Quebec and Canada. It occupies a unique place in the theatrical landscape, both in terms of the number of its members and the objectives of research and excellence that it pursues. The CEAD is involved in collaborations with other countries. Luxembourg is invited for the first time to benefit from these programmes.

For the past 17 years, M pour Montréal has acted as an essential catalyst for the Quebec and Canadian music industry, both for emerging artists and those developing their careers outside of Quebec. In November, let’s spread our imaginations and meet around the artists and creations of Luxembourg!
On 3 March 2022, Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg invited the Visual arts sector for a convivial moment of exchange at the Konschthal in Esch-sur-Alzette. This sectoral meeting was an opportunity to review the various support offered by Kultur | lx, as well as to present the actions planned for 2022. The event ended with a visit of the exhibition Instant Comedy by Filip Markiewicz (presented until 22 May 2022).
More than 35 professionals gathered in the Konschthal to discover or rediscover the support offered by Kultur | lx to the Visual arts sector.
Kultur | lx offered support to encourage mobility (mobility aid for career development; tour support; support for participation in fairs) and increase renown (Luxembourg Focus programme; promotion support) of Luxembourgish creation.
In order to raise awareness of an artist’s work within the sector and among the public, and to foster knowledge of different artistic practices, Kultur | lx supports the production of an artistic portfolio with the porfolio grant.
Finally, four residency programmes are open to Luxembourgish artists in partnership with Kultur | lx, two are exclusively dedicated to the Visual arts sector:
– Research and creation residency for Visual artists at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin;
– Research and creation residency at the Darling Foundry in Montreal, Canada;
And two multidisciplinary residencies, open to artists from all sectors:
– Multidisciplinary research and creation residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris;
– Research and creative residency for architects, architectural researchers, illustrators and authors at Academia Belgica in Rome.
These support will also be reinforced by actions. In the first half of 2022, Kultur | lx will set up operations to strengthen the sector’s skills and its international connections.
On 6 April 2022, a workshop will be offered to visual artists, design and craft professionals entitled: Present your approach to the international art professionals.
In addition, on an international level, scouting visits will be organised during major international events in order to discover a part of the international scene. Curated studio visits will be set up in Luxembourg to create new opportunities and connexion for the Luxembourg Visual arts scene.
The networking event that followed the presentations highlighted the needs of the sector and reinforced Kultur | lx in its role of supporting the career development of professional artists.
Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg, in partnership with the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, offers a three-month research and creation residency based on a call for applications to artists of all disciplines of Luxembourg nationality or living in Luxembourg. This residency program aims to allow an artist, author, dancer, choreographer or musician to carry out a personal research and creation project. The project will preferably be carried out in conjunction with a partner institution, or a structure, or an artist, identified in Paris and its agglomeration. This stay, which is for the artist a privileged moment of reflection and creation, will contribute to the visibility of the Luxembourgish artistic scene in Paris.

About the Cité internationale des arts, Paris
The Cité internationale des arts is an artists’ residency in the heart of Paris that brings together creators and allows them to implement a production or research project in all disciplines. For periods of two months to a year, the Cité internationale des arts offers an environment conducive to creation, open to meetings with professionals from the cultural sector. Residents benefit from customized support from the Cité internationale des arts team. In the Marais (18 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville, 75004 Paris) or in Montmartre (24 rue Norvins, 75018 Paris), the residency also provides an opportunity to meet and dialogue with more than 300 artists and actors from the art world of all generations, all nationalities and all disciplines.
