Invitation | Classical Music Focus

Deadline for registration: 07/10/2023

Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg is delighted to invite you to its Classical Music Focus to take place on October 6th and 7th at the Trifolion Cultural Centre in Echternach, Luxembourg, in the frame of the Echter’Classic Festival. At the start of every autumn, the festival Echter’Classic makes Echternach vibrate to the sounds of chamber music, baroque music and much more. Concerts take place in various venues around Echternach, including the TRIFOLION, the Church of St. Peter & Paul and the Basilica of St. Willibrord. Located in the heart of Müllerthal, also known as “Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland”, Echternach is Luxembourg’s oldest city, and has shown a vibrant cultural and musical life for decades.

During these two Focus days, we invite you to discover the richness and liveliness of Luxembourg’s Classical music scene through showcases taking place in the frame of the Echter’Classic Festival. During those showcases, the violinist Sandrine Cantoreggi will present her project dedicated to Mel Bonis’ works for piano and violin.

You will also have the chance to listen to Maurice Clement, Resident Organist of the Luxembourg Philharmonie, presenting Cesar Franck’s works for organ. This Focus will also feature Luxembourg’s finest young talents, notably Zala and Val Kravos, two pianist siblings who will show their mastery of four-hand piano repertoire, as well as cellist Benjamin Kruithof, laureate of the Enescu Competition. Last but not least, the Ensemble de la Chapelle Saint-Marc will present a repertoire dedicated to early Italian music.

The official programme of the festival will feature the ensemble Kammerata Luxembourg in the frame of a programme dedicated to the young and promising Luxembourgish composer Nik Bohnenberger. On October 7th, you will be able to discover the project Hear Eyes Move – Dances with Ligeti, where the dancer-choreographer Elisabeth Schilling gives her choreographical vision of Ligeti’s Piano Etudes played live by Cathy Krier (ECHO Rising Star 2015/2016). Last but not least, the Victor Kraus Group, consisting of Luxembourg’s finest musicians around the percussionist Victor Kraus, will present a hybrid project around Simeon Ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato.

Along with these musical moments, this visitor’s programme will lead to encounters and formal networking moments to create opportunities for further exchanges with the local classical music scene.
