Focus on Cathy Krier, Award-winner of the Global Project Grant 2021 - classic
Award-winner of the Global Project Grant 2021 – Classical music, Cathy Krier is to release the integral recording of Ligeti’s Études pour piano, on August 27th under CAvi-music.
These Etudes were composed between 1986 and 2001 and are inspired by a wide variety of sources such as African and jazz music. Each Etude deals with a source of inspiration linked to Ligeti.
“Immersing oneself in the Ligeti universe is an invitation to travel, tackling a thousand different facets that allow the performer himself to grow in his field of knowledge, not only musically“ comments Cathy Krier.
Designated ECHO Rising Star for Season 2015/2016, pianist Cathy Krier constantly seeks to arouse the curiosity of her audiences through highly acclaimed programmes, mixing works from the classical and modern repertoires, both in her discography and her recitals.
Cathy Krier will perform a selection of the Etudes during the Luxembourg Classical Meeting, organized by Kultur | lx in cooperation with the Philharmonie, on September 17th at Philharmonie Luxembourg, and at Goethe Institut on October 19th 2021. This recital is organised in cooperation with the Mission culturelle du Luxembourg en France.
Cathy Krier will also perform the Etudes in the frame of the project Hear Eyes Move, on Elisabeth Schilling’s choreography for 5 dancers. This musical and choreographical project successfully premiered in July 2021 at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, and will be presented at Kunstfest Weimar on September 2nd, 3rd and 4th, as well as in Trier Moselmusikfestival on October 3rd.
