Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg invites you to its Focus Amplified Music (Pop/Rock/Electro/R’n’B/Hip-Hop), which will take place on Friday, 31 May and Saturday, 1 June in the towns of Differdange and Dudelange in the South of Luxembourg.

During these two days, you will have the opportunity to discover Luxembourgish artists who will perform some showcases at a special location and at the USINA Festival – a collaborative festival by major Luxembourgish cultural players, creating a melting pot of international and local acts, combined with street performers, entertainers, arts and culture.

You will also be able to get to know several companies and institutions of the Grand Duchy’s music industry. Kultur | lx will also organise a pitching and speed networking session on Saturday to give you the opportunity to get in touch with Luxembourgish artists and professionals.

Kultur | lx will cover your travel expenses (up to 200.00€) and provide you with free accommodation, shuttle service, meals and a USINA festival pass.

Transportation expenses
Kultur | lx offers transportation to Luxembourg up to a limit of 200€ for one person per institution. If you are travelling by car, we will consider 0,30€/km.  For local transport, shuttles will be organised between the airport and the hotel, as well as between the hotel and 1535° Creative hub and the festival. NB: Please note that every public transportation is free in Luxembourg.

Accommodation expenses

A complimentary hotel room will be booked for you for the nights of Friday, 31 May and Saturday, June 1 June 2024. If you wish to stay longer, those nights will be at your own expense. However, we could ask for an extension of your hotel booking if you plan to stay longer.

The new Focus dedicated to Luxembourgish jazz will take place during Like A Jazz Machine festival at opderschmelz, Dudelange, on May 10th and 11th 2024.

Since 2012 and the creation of Like A Jazz Machine, opderschmelz has been giving its own vision on today’s jazz by putting light on the most adventurous creations and projects. During the last 11 years, the festival presented musicians from diverse backgrounds and musical aesthetics such as Kyle Eastwood, Thomas de Pourquery & Supersonic, Pascal Schumacher, Joachim Kühn, Naïssam Jalal, Kenny Garrett, Greg Lamy, Emile Parisien, Rabih-Abou Khalil, Géraldine Laurent, among many others.

The 2024 edition will be a promising one, with acts by Giovanni Guidi, Barbara Dennerlein, Luxembourgish vocalist Claire Parsons and Ziv Ravitz, Airelle Besson, Claude Tchamitchian and the promising luxembourgish trumpet player Daniel Migliosi. Discover the full programme here.

Our Focus aims to invite professionals from abroad to (re)discover jazz artists from Luxembourg in the frame of a significant event dedicated to jazz, and to connect with the local scene. With this invitation programme, Kultur | lx intends to give artists and professionals (venues, festivals…) from Luxembourg a visibility on the international scale.

On the occasion of the Luxembourg Art Week 2023, which will take place from 09 to 12 November 2023, Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg invites you to discover a part of the Luxembourg VISUAL ARTS scene during days dedicated to exchanges between professionals, meetings with artists and visits to art centers and museums.

The programme will span two and a half days, from Wednesday 08 to Friday 10 November 2023.

We offer you the opportunity to meet artists active in the Luxembourg and European scenes, who have been selected by the curator and director of the Salzburger Kunstverein Mirela Baciak.

She has curated a generous studio visit programme “guided by [her] research on queer and/or ecological practices”:
“I have chosen these two discursive spaces as I see them as relating to the most challenging problems within our shared presence: the problem of the climate breakdown, as well as a growing need for a more tolerant, accessible, and inclusive world.”

It will also allow you to meet the teams of Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain, Konschthal Esch – Espace d’art contemporain, and other arts centers. You will also be invited to participate in round-table discussions organised by Casino Display – Space for artistic research in collaboration with Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg.

Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg is delighted to invite you to its Contemporary Music Focus to take place from November 17th to 19th in the frame of the rainy days Festival, organised by the Philharmonie Luxembourg. For this edition called “memory”, rainy days will present projects by composers Christopher Trapani and Bushra El-Turk, among others, and will also feature emerging composers. This first edition under the artistic leadership of Catherine Kontz will also present ensembles and composers from Luxembourg such as Nik Bohnenberger, Albena Petrovic, as well as Ivan Boumans.

rainy days will allow you to hear Luxembourgish ensembles dedicated to the circulation of contemporary music, notably United Instruments of Lucilin, Luxembourg Philharmonic, and Ars Nova Lux, along with the Ensemble Ictus, Aki Takahashi, and the Langham Research Centre.

Our visitor’s programme will give space to formal and informal meeting occasions in the frame of rainy days’ Coffee with Composers, as well as a speedmeeting session between national and international delegates.

Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg is delighted to invite you to its Classical Music Focus to take place on October 6th and 7th at the Trifolion Cultural Centre in Echternach, Luxembourg, in the frame of the Echter’Classic Festival. At the start of every autumn, the festival Echter’Classic makes Echternach vibrate to the sounds of chamber music, baroque music and much more. Concerts take place in various venues around Echternach, including the TRIFOLION, the Church of St. Peter & Paul and the Basilica of St. Willibrord. Located in the heart of Müllerthal, also known as “Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland”, Echternach is Luxembourg’s oldest city, and has shown a vibrant cultural and musical life for decades.

During these two Focus days, we invite you to discover the richness and liveliness of Luxembourg’s Classical music scene through showcases taking place in the frame of the Echter’Classic Festival. During those showcases, the violinist Sandrine Cantoreggi will present her project dedicated to Mel Bonis’ works for piano and violin.

You will also have the chance to listen to Maurice Clement, Resident Organist of the Luxembourg Philharmonie, presenting Cesar Franck’s works for organ. This Focus will also feature Luxembourg’s finest young talents, notably Zala and Val Kravos, two pianist siblings who will show their mastery of four-hand piano repertoire, as well as cellist Benjamin Kruithof, laureate of the Enescu Competition. Last but not least, the Ensemble de la Chapelle Saint-Marc will present a repertoire dedicated to early Italian music.

The official programme of the festival will feature the ensemble Kammerata Luxembourg in the frame of a programme dedicated to the young and promising Luxembourgish composer Nik Bohnenberger. On October 7th, you will be able to discover the project Hear Eyes Move – Dances with Ligeti, where the dancer-choreographer Elisabeth Schilling gives her choreographical vision of Ligeti’s Piano Etudes played live by Cathy Krier (ECHO Rising Star 2015/2016). Last but not least, the Victor Kraus Group, consisting of Luxembourg’s finest musicians around the percussionist Victor Kraus, will present a hybrid project around Simeon Ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato.

Along with these musical moments, this visitor’s programme will lead to encounters and formal networking moments to create opportunities for further exchanges with the local classical music scene.

Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg, in collaboration with the CCRD opderschmelz, are delighted to invite you to its Jazz Focus taking place on May 12th and 13th in Dudelange, Luxembourg, in the framework of the festival Like a Jazz Machine. This Focus aims to encourage the identification of Luxembourg artists featured at the festival for export purposes.

During these two Focus days, you will have the opportunity to listen to Manuel Hermia and his Freetet, Stanley Clarke and his new project *N* 4Ever, and Samuel Blaser for the release of his CD ROUTES. On the Luxembourgish side, take a chance to discover Michel Reis’ new collaboration with the contemporary music ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin, Shauli Einav’s Quartet, Living Organs (artist in residence), the ignited compositions of the fearless musicians from Tele-Port, and the result of Mathieu Clément’s residency with his sextet. As the festival aims to favour encounters and exchanges, this Jazz Focus will also feature a networking moment.

Free transportation
Kultur | lx offers free transportation to Luxembourg up to a limit of 200€ for one person per institution. The reimbursement will be made after the festival upon the presentation of the receipts and a refund form request that will be sent to you or an invoice. If you are coming by car, just keep the gas and toll tickets and send it to us with your refund invoice (Parking costs will not be reimbursed). If you plan to come accompanied, the additional transportation costs will be at your expenses. Shuttles will be organised for local transportation.

Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to its Contemporary Music Focus on 16 and 17 September 2022. This event aims at introducing and discovering Luxembourg’s contemporary music scene and composers on the occasion of the 33,7 Festival, organised by the Ensemble United Instruments of Lucilin and the Kulturfabrik (Esch-sur-Alzette) in the framework of Esch2022 – European Capital of Culture.
More than a moment of discoveries, and in view of Kultur | lx’ collaboration with Impuls neue Musik, this focus shall encourage encounters and initiate artistic collaborations, as well as synergies.
NB: programme to come soon. The Focus will start on Friday 16 September around 4 pm and will end on Saturday 17 September in the evening.

About 33,7
33,7, which will take place on 17 and 18 September 2022, is a gigantic musical cartography representing the eclectic population of southern Luxembourg and the neighbouring French towns. This diversity will be transcribed into 2022 minutes (33.7 hours!) of music commissioned or borrowed by United Instruments of Lucilin from composers of different nationalities represented on the territory of Esch2022.
