Pour Romain Urhausen, comme il le répétait souvent lors de nos rencontres, la photographie n’est jamais lisse. Il aimait les rides, le rictus d’un visage, l’expressivité plutôt que l’harmonie de la beauté pure. Sa photographie savait aussi capter le vivant, le fluide et le mouvement. Entre photographies d’accumulation et détail qui interpelle, il a créé un rythme visuel très fort que l’on retrouve aussi dans ses publications. Le clair et l’obscur, l’ombre et la lumière, la vie et la mort sont omniprésents dans ses photographies parfaitement contrastées.
