All applicants will be notified by email. Applications must be sent using the online registration form only. Documentation cannot be sent by mail.

The partners

La Chapelle . Joint artistic directors: Abou Lagraa & Nawal Lagraa Aït-Benalla

Compagnie La Baraka was founded by choreographer Abou Lagraa in 1997. Its repertoire consists of around thirty shows. Internationally acclaimed, La Baraka promotes the idea of dance open to all via artistic creation but also by raising awareness and conveying choreographic art to the largest audience. Since February 2018, Compagnie La Baraka has been based in the Chapelle Sainte-Marie in the historic centre of Annonay, in the heart of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, one hour from Lyon. In parallel with the creations of Compagnie La Baraka, La Chapelle aims to be a centre for artists in residence. The team at La Baraka is committed to openness and sharing with other artists in residence, so increasing the opportunity for people to access artistic diversity. In this way, Compagnie La Baraka with the Chapelle Sainte-Marie becomes a place of creation in France for Luxembourg artists.

Grand Théâtre & Théâtre des Capucins

The Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, that is, the Grand Théâtre and Théâtre des Capucins, have been under one direction since 2011 and present an eclectic dance, opera and theatre programme motivated by the continuous desire to meet the expectations and demands of a burgeoning cultural scene and a cosmopolitan audience. Season after season, the Théâtres de la Ville strive to do justice to their role as a cultural centre by increasing the number of live entertainment events and actively contributing to the development of the cultural scene in Luxembourg, bringing local talent to international co-productions and focusing on creation, emergence and the support of local creators.

As the product of the same idea of support and sharing, the TalentLAB, a project laboratory and multidisciplinary festival, took shape in 2016 and evolved into a vibrant platform for emerging artists showcasing experimentation in a safe space. With the establishment of the Capucins Libre residency to accompany artists in the final steps of their creation in 2018, the Théâtres de la Ville wanted to further intervene in another creative venue and support artists and collectives in the production of a project by offering them time, space and the support required to bring it to fruition. It is in this spirit that the idea was conceived of a collaboration with Compagnie La Baraka – La Chapelle / Abou Lagraa & Nawal Lagraa Aït-Benalla.

Finally, considerable effort has made it possible to forge partnerships with other event venues in Europe in order to develop a new co-production model based on exchange and transmission, enabling local artists to participate in international projects, on the one hand, and home-grown projects to tour abroad, on the other. This strategy of blending their creations with international “in-house” co-productions has enabled the Grand Théâtre and Théâtre des Capucins to increase the visibility of local work both in the Greater Region and throughout Europe and to build excellent relations with their partners.
