Update on Criss Cross Europe - A pan-European project

Each year, Criss Cross Europe brings together 6 promising young jazz and impro musicians from 6 European countries to form a pan-European band. During the residency period, these musicians work together, guided by experts and an artistic coach – a flag-bearer of the European jazz scene. The residencies are concluded by a concert tour that takes the band to prominent venues and festivals in – minimally – the 6 countries involved in the project. Throughout the residencies, the partners meet to investigate the ingredients that help build international music careers.

In 2021, the residency was conducted by the exceptional drummer Jim Black, and the Luxembourgish participant in this adventure was Michel Meis.

Following this residency, the group went on tour in Estonia, the Netherlands, and performed in our partner venue opderschmelz on October. The tour was supposed to continue in Belgium, Scotland, and Ireland. However, due to the restrictions surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, the CrissCross Europe Tour organised on December 8th, 9th and 10th 2021 at Ghent Musikcentrum De Bijloke, Dublin Freemasons’ Hall and Edimburgh Jazz Bar had to be cancelled. The partners of the Criss Cross network are currently analysing a possibility to postpone these dates in 2022. Stay tuned!
