Call for applications: Jazz With

Deadline for submission: 30/04/2024

AJC has been committed to promoting the French jazz scene in Europe since its creation in 1993, seeking to create ideal conditions for its artists, by inviting professionals to discover French jazz through our program of invitations, by creating bi-national schemes between France and Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands,…, or by supporting festivals and initiatives to promote and tour French musicians in Germany, Italy, Nordic countries, the United States,…

Today, AJC is launching a new pan-European project, Jazz With. Thanks to Jazz With, AJC will be able to support and accompany an existing but under-supported trend: artistic projects combining French and European artists. Through a European call and a selection made by AJC network members, Jazz With will support 3 already existing paneuropean formations each year in their French and European promotion strategy.

These three projects will be selected based on their artistic quality, but the jury will also consider issues such as female representation, diversity of proposals and formats, as well as promotion strategies that will have been presented in the application. The groups – from trios to sextets – must consist of musicians residing in Europe, with at least one French artist (or resident in France for several years). These projects must already have an initial existence, provide music to the jury and be able to outline an initial promotion strategy.

The selected projects will benefit from a concert (fees, transportation, accommodation, etc.) at the Rencontres AJC 2024 – December 3, 2024 – in front of a gathering of French and European professionals and a grant of 3000 euros meant to optimize tour planning and avoid one-off events. In addition, the three groups will be supported by AJC teams and network members in their research and reflections to create the necessary shared dynamic for a better dissemination in France and Europe.

Eligibility criteria

  • Already existing formation
  • From trio to sextet
  • At least one French musician or resident in France for several years
  • Other artists must reside in Europe

Required documents (in English)

  • Presentation of the artistic project
  • Presentation of the artists and contacts
  • Presentation of the project’s entourage
  • Statement of intention regarding the project’s distribution
  • 2 to 3 titles only on Soundcloud
  • 1 live video – if available

Application deadline:  30 April 2024
